Re: ~Marina, Shellbell~

  • thanks for the post.  I swear I responded to this at work, while waiting.. but I dont know what happened to it.

Anyway, today was good.  No flaky parents.  And I reschedule 1 of the 3 for tomorrow.

  • I didn't have good luck.  I had 2 moms no show again this morning.  One mom did end up coming in afterschool instead when she realized she mixed up her times.  I know the parent well and I had the sibling last year so I figured she confused her times because she has multiple children at the school.

Let me tell you about the other mom.  Her child is late EVERY day of school.  She missed her appointment this morning then comes sauntering in 10 minutes after we started school dragging her kid behind her.  Then she has the nerve to say "I know I missed my appointment, can we meet now?"   Ummm, I wanted to scream....no lady I have 24 kids I have to teach right now!   Instead, I politely said I couldn't and rescheduled for tomorrow morning.  We'll see if she shows for that one.

  • Wow, that is all I can say, ?You are so great to have kept your composure in front of your students. ?I don't understand how parents don't value the feedback from their child's teacher, and how they just assume that you will be there and available whenever they are ready to speak to you.
  • yes, it is very interesting what some parents expect of teachers.

  • ha, ha, Marina, last year I had one Mom tell me I should have to provide fresh fruit to the whole class every day for snack time.  Ok, just let me pull out my wallet.....and this same Mom would drop off fresh McDonald's twice a week for her son for lunch!
