Military Nesties
Dear Community,

Our tech team has launched updates to The Nest today. As a result of these updates, members of the Nest Community will need to change their password in order to continue participating in the community. In addition, The Nest community member's avatars will be replaced with generic default avatars. If you wish to revert to your original avatar, you will need to re-upload it via The Nest.

So my husband is preparing to join the airforce.

Im excited and alittle worried all at the same time =( im not sure what to expect...

is it as scary as it sounds? Any stories or advice would be lovely.

  • It's scary to join, because it's a 4 or 6 year commitment, but once you are adjusted (after about a year), it is scary to think about leaving the military.  :-)  The military will take care of you. It's very paternalistic.  People get used to being spoiled with free medical, free housing, free education, etc.  We've been in a long time (over 10 years)  and it's super comfortable. When you are low ranking it can be frustrating because you have no power, but as you work your way up, it is very rewarding. I think you'll really like it. :-)
  • thanks for responding. I hope i love it =) it really freaked me out at first but ive been talking about the idea so much that its starting to grow on me.
