Cant decide what color/shape of kitchen table? see pics

We moved into our new and this is how our kitchen looks now (minus the decor on the walls and red stools)

We have a family of 4 and need seating in the kitchen.  We are going to put 4 stools under the island and want to move the hutch on the right hand side to another rooom, so we can fit a table.

Because the kitchen is all black and white, is a black table too much?  I am leaning towards a round table for 4, with a leaf to expand.

Suggestions please!

  • I think a roubd black table would look great!    The kitchen seems really linear to me, so the round would go well, in my opinion.

I also like the idea of bright turquoise or lime placemats too, the pops of red and other bright colores could be really fun in there.

  • I think a long rectangular table would be great and more useful if you guests or other kids over. You seem to have the space. A rectangle is better, IMO, for kid crafts and seating more people. Beautiful kitchen!
  • We actually have a long rectangular table from World Market with a bench, and 2 chairs.  Its a dark mahagony with a rustic feel.  I was thinking of selling it because wasnt sure if it would look right.

  • I think a round, black table that can expand to an oval would be nice in there.  Would you do red chairs?  I love a red, black and white kitchen!

  • I think your existing table, painted black, would work in the space if it fits.  I am a horrible judge of space.
