Need Help....recently have constant 24/7 vaginal bleeding on bc?

I'm on Beyaz, I've been on it for a year and half now. Never had ANY problems when I started taking it, and it was my first form of bc. Got married in Janaury, and just recently, in the past two months, I've had constant vaginal bleeding. Like I have a period 24/7. My period will come when I expect it to, and I'll have to wear a pad everyday until a few days before my next period when I have just spotting, and then my period will come again and it will start all over!! :(

I went to my GYN and he examined me, swabbed me, and said it's normal, he didn't see anything that was of concern. But I AM concerned. I have been looking online and I don't have any other symptoms, just constant flow of period-ness when I shouldn't be having it. And there is no possibility of having contracted an STD or anything, I am 110% positive. I took a pregnancy test when this first started happening last month and it was negative. And I feel totally normal. *UGH* I also will mention I'm only 20, so there's no relation to menopause or anything. lol

Any advice, suggestions, experiences would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

Re: Need Help....recently have constant 24/7 vaginal bleeding on bc?

  • Well I had some constant bleeding for about 6 months.

I was on the depo shot. It stopped my period. No bleeding of any kind for 3 months (depo shot last for 3 months). When I got another depo shot, I started having light daily bleeding. The nurses said it would go away eventually. I got the 3rd shot and lightly bleed for 3 more months. The doc told me that is was a minor inconvience and that the depo shot was otherwise working well. He suggested I continue the shot even after 6 months of light bleeding.

He said it was happening because my uterine lining was so thin that the blood was just spillling over it (don't really know what that means, but it wasn't period blood).

I didn't accept another shot. I had had enough.

  • Wow, both of you have really horrible gynos. Bleeding for months on end should just not be tolerated. Find new doctors ASAP. And OP, change birth control as rikki has.
  • Continual bleeding vaginally or uterine will also put a hell of a strain on your bone marrow.

Discontinue the BC and  use some other form of BC that's nonhormonal while you have this problem looked into --- get another opinion.

Constant bleeding is NOT normal. GL.
  • I had a similar situation when I was on a combination hormone birth control pill. I kept bleeding but had ultrasounds and they didn't see any fibroids or any other reasons to worry. However my doctor overlooked the fact that I am anemic. I always have very low iron levels and the constant bleeding made me so lethargic and moody all the time that they finally told me to stop taking the pill and they put in a Mirena IUD which is better for anemic women and women who have bleeding issues with the pill. In other words ask your doctor to prick your finger and test your iron :)
  • I had period like bleeding for over a year and I am also anemic. When I was young, I never knew when I would get my period. Sometimes I would only have one once a year. I guess something finally let the proverbial cork loose.

Was extremely inconvenient and it really messed with my self esteem. Never wanted to socialize cause I never wanted to meet anyone because of the situation.

Finally went to the doctor and diagnosed me with PCOS. First they prescribed me the Seasonique birth control, but it was HORRIBLE!! It made the bleeding heavier and had me cramping so bad. Felt like someone was constantly punching me in the gut.

I am now on Zovia and I am sooooo much happier. Getting my hormones regulated actually caused me to lose weight, so yay on that and I feel so much better. Periods only last a few days now.

Definitely go see another doctor. Constant bleeding is NOT normal. Take care of yourself.

  • This happened to me when I was on the pill for over a year and my obgyn simply suggested that I change the brand of pill I was on. I switched from yaz to Yasmin and never had an issue again,
