Hiiii from over at the bump.
Hi there! I usually post on the bump but I read there are more Mainers over here! I'm Kristen, from the Portlandish area. I love the outdoors! Hiking, rock climbing, skiing, camping... just trying to figure out how to do all that with a new LO:)

Re: Hiiii from over at the bump.
Welcome! I live in central maine with my DH and 2 year old daughter. We took her camping at 5 months old. It was much much easier than I expected. We usually cloth diaper, but did disposables for that time. We also formula fed so I made sure I boiled water the night before, put it in a thermos and it was the perfect temp for the next morning.
We have a Sherpani framed hiking pack that we love. When she was smaller we just used our Ergo. T fell asleep often! Now that she is older though, she prefers to hike herself or to be in the Sherpani. We hiked 10 miles in Baxter this summer and also did Tumbledown Mountain (in Weld). T loves being outside!
I don't downhill but do have xcountry skiis and snow shoes. We invested in a Chariot Cougar this summer and it has attachments you can buy to change it from a stroller, to a bike trailer, and then also there are skis you can buy for it. can't wait for winter!
The outdoor sports can be done!! Stick around...hope to hear more from you

Oh, please, oh, please! Can we be friends?
Gawd, I sound desperate. LOL!
I live in the greater Portland area with my 4 month old bambino, our 24 pound rocking climbing and hiking crazed pup, and my hubby of 5 years. We love climbing and hiking as well and are trying to wrap our brains around doing it all with B, too. We're going to get her climbing when she's three and hope to use her grandparents in the meantime to watch her while we go climb. As for hiking, she's been hiking with us in a Snugli since it is forward facing. So far the Ergo has been an epic fail since she can't see out. We have a Deuter Kid Comfort II for when she's older. We had thought about using it this spring, but the Snugli is work and it allows me to keep her closer to me and, therefore, warmer. We'll start using the Kid Comfort II next season since DH and I will be hiking without her this winter.
I used to practically live at the MRG. My hubby has gone more recently than I have since he has buddies at work that climb. I'm about 30 minutes west of Portland, but I drive all over. I'm a HS teacher, so we're even in the same line of work. LOL!
If you want, drop me an email at hikingnclimbing at gmail and we could get together for a lil' hike or something this fall before it gets too cold for the babes. Our daughters are so close in age!
umm Maybe we know each other! I went to the MRG mwf nights for 3 years! lol MY DH goes on Wednesdays (and soon Mondays when then open again).. he wants me to bring DD in but I tell him not yet... all that chalk cant be good for a babies lungs! I didn't know of anyone other couple being pregnant but then again its been say.. about a year since I've been consistantly. I've got 2 ideas who you may be... hmmm I'll send you a PM
