Interesting article on school loans
Re: Interesting article on school loans
It surprises me not at all that if you give banks the option not to tell borrowers about this program, they won't.
I'm glad that they are required to tell them now when they apply
Government regulation
I find myself so conflicted sometimes between both parties which is why I call myself an Independent. I love some of what the government does and hate other aspects. when I was laid off almost 3 years ago I was able to get in on the subsidized cobra plan where the government paid 65% and we only paid 35% of the premium which made it way more affordable while I looked for other health care.
See, you sound like a reasonable person. You have the same attitude towards government as most of my liberal friends actually. This is exactly why "liberals" are SO fired up and angered with the current Republican party. Ever since it was hijacked by the Tea Party, the antigovernment sentiment has grown to a level unheard of by previous conservatives. Even though they tout him as a hero, if Ronald Reagan were running for president today, he would have never made it through the primary because they would have considered him too "big government".
Most liberals, including Obama, don't believe that the government is ALWAYS the answer. There are some things they should just stay out of, but there is a place for government to do good. Protecting consumers from corrupt business practices, assisting a hard worker like yourself when laid off with healthcare, etc are examples of where it is a GOOD thing. It's frustrating that an entire major party has taken such a polarizing stance on any sort of government involvement.
