I have a cold, so I need you guys to help me with some final decisions while I spend my days curled up in bed getting better for Sunday.
Plates
Elegant-y paper plates that I'd need to find and buy OR
a set of fall-ish fine china (white china from the '70s with a burnt orange and gold band lol) that I have to go to the storage unit and dig out?
Menu
Final count is 11 women and 7 men.
With the revisions from the post below, the menu is: sausage-egg dish, fruit tray, baked ham with optional rolls and mustard, hash brown casserole, pumpkin bread, molasses cookies, Kentucky derby pie bites, mimosa punch, OJ, coffee.
Do I need another veggie egg dish?
Should I cut the molasses cookies since the pumpkin bread does double duty as a side and a sweet?
If I can't find the pumpkin bread mix (it might not be out here yet, haven't looked), do you think 6's cinnamon apple cake is a good sub? It wasn't my first choice only since I don't think fresh apples are out yet and the ones in stores are from cold storage from last fall (ick).
Decor
The florist is doing one tall arrangement and one small. I didn't give her any specifics, but it'll be chic and fabulous.
Should I try to get my porch all ready for fall with mums and pumpkins? It's going to be in the low 80s this weekend. The porch has late summer reds out - bronze begonias and tall grasses.
Monogrammed pumpkin worth the effort, yes? I think I might try to do it on a white pumpkin, maybe with paint. Or is it too fall if the house isn't done up for fall?
Any other decor ideas that you've seen that'd be perfect for this? I haven't had a chance to spend much time on Pinterest and I know I'm missing great ideas.
Re: Final brunch details help
Plates- I would either get the nicer clear plastic plates or dig out the china. Even as a former paper engineer I hate paper plates.
Food- If you have enough of the egg dish for everyone I might skip the veg egg and do a spinach salad. I sorta, kinda feel like another side might be nice.
The molasses cookies feel like a little over kill with the other things so they could be cut without being missed.
I haven't looked for the pumpkin bread, but if you are looking for something to do double duty as a dessert and a sweet bread, the apple cake probably isn't quite right (as much as I love the cake). If you want a no muss pumpkin bread these are easy peasy and tastey.

I'll think on decor, but I lean toward nothing or maybe doing a painted pumpkin with the couple's name.
Hi Dear! Sorry you're not feeling well. I would go with the fall china since it sounds so great and you haven't bought anything else yet. I think your menu is perfect and think you could just drop the Molasses cookies - if you like. Also I have a great Pumpkin Bread recipe if you need one - has to be baked from scratch. I have made it in both loaves and muffin cups. In fact, it was my kids favors last year and their birthday party treats at school. Let me know if you need the recipe.
Re: decor - whatever you decide do will be fabulous. Please take photos to share afterwards.
Take Care~
"W".
1. I'd go with the china. How often do we really get to use our nice china?
)
2. I'd probably go with one more vegetable-ish side too. The spinach salad a previous poster suggested sounds pretty good and should be pretty easy to throw together
3. Not sure if you have one near you, but I saw tons of the pumpkin bread kits in Walmart yesterday so they are definitely out around here.
4. I love "fall" decorated porches so if you have the energy, I say go for it.
)
Everything sounds wonderful. Please post pics.
