Hi strangers! I havent posted in so long!
My 15 month old welsh terrier has taken a turn for the very worst in the bathroom department. He was a little rough in the beginning but we got him in a routine with his walks ands he has been pretty good.
And then the last month happened!
He has started randomly without any warning pooping on the floor. There has been no change in his diet or anything at all. Tonight he walked over to the stairs, looked at us, walked in front of the tv and just peed.
He has been known to have a few poop accidents here and there but tw peeing has never been an issue. I don't know where to go from here! Should I go back to original training ? Try a new plan of attack? I'm lost!
Help! Thanks girls
Re: My 'toddler' is regressing in the potty department. Help :(
Report this to your vet. He may want to run a urine culture on him or have him come in for a checkup. Maybe he has a UTI or some other problem.
Do you crate him?
Until you find out what is what, crate him and when you're home, tether him to you with aleash. This way, if he pulls the peeing in the house routine, you will catch him in the act before he does it.
Good idea.
He is crated during the work day. Working on getting him just in the kitchen is our next battle!

I agree about checking with your vet - a suddent change in behavior like this could be a sign of a medical issue. If you rule out a medical/physical issue, I would go back to your stricter potty training techniques (like PP said, crate when you're not home and tether him to you when you are so you can prevent accidents or at least catch him in the act and whisk him outside). As always, make sure you're cleaning all accidents with an enzymatic cleaner like Nature's Miracle, and praise a ton for pottying outside.
One of my dogs (never did figure out which one it was) starting peeing in their "room" (they are baby gated in one room during the week after DH and I returned from an 8-day vacation (the longest they had ever been boarded or away from us). We crated both dogs during the day, took them out longer in the morning, and tethered them to us while we were home. It only took 1-2 weeks for them to re-earn their freedom (granted there weren't any medical issues we had to deal with, and they were 4 and 5 years old at the time). GL!
I had this issue with a beagle/cocker spaniel mix I had a few years back... I took her into the vet and she had crystals in her bladder...
I would deff get him checked out!
