Chit Chat Friday

Anyone around?  I feel like today is dragging at work and it's not like I don't have plenty to work on (we're currently trying to get W-9s from several hundred vendors...which is my newest "project").

Re: Chit Chat Friday

  • I am! I feel like work is dragging today, too. I have no motivation. Good luck getting W-9s...that sounds like a long project.

  • Thanks (it is and unfortunately it is not very exciting).  I kind of feel like this whole week has been slow moving (at least at work) which I didn't think would happen since I had Tuesday off so we could get 5 new windows put in.

How is everything with the house coming along? (and packing/getting ready to move)

    Anniversary
  • I feel like this week was really slow moving, too. Especially today!

House stuff is coming along! I want that to move faster, too. haha The apprasial was last week so we're just waiting to hear about that and if all is good we can start to close.  We have been packing slow but sure. Hopefully we'll get a move on it a little bit more this week.  It's overwhelming how much has to be done and I never realized how much stuff we have until now.  What's nice is we never took our wedding gifts out of the boxes bc we have no room where we live now so it's nice that all of those are already packed.

  • How are all of your home renovations coming?  I saw in the other post that you have friends coming in this weekend that you haven't seen in awhile. It's going to be so fun to show off all of the work you have been putting into your house lately. :-)

  • I remember when we were packing up stuff at my parents house before the move and I was amazed at how much we really had!!! It is almost hard to believe.  I hope things start to move a little faster for you in the closing process, so you can just get into your house!!

Our house renovations are coming along slowly but I didn't expect them to move very fast right now because DH is so busy in the fall that it is normally just me at home in the evenings and I can't do a lot of the things without his help.  We do finally have all the kitchen cabinets re-stained and a coat of polyurethane on them.  The next thing will be to put new hardware on them...but I think we are going to be waiting a little bit to do that.  Our other big project right now is repainting the shutters!  We have one set done and several more to go, but it is one of the most obvious changes we have made and I am so excited for it to be complete!  We are going from brown shutters on a yellow house to a red/maroon color on the yellow house!! Once that is done I'll post some pictures.

  • Please do post pictures! That sounds so pretty - I love looking at all of that stuff right now, too. It gives me ideas of what we should do. It sounds like everything is coming along nicely though even though your H is busy right now.

  • Yeah, I certainly cannot complain because we are moving along! I think I get a little more excited every time I start to see something change because I feel like the house keeps becoming more and more our own.
    Anniversary
  • I bet that's exciting!! Do you live in a place that you can work on things all winter, too? I live in PA so winter is tough to do outside stuff...I'm sure you can get a lot done inside all winter.

  • Unfortunately no....we live in Ohio (south of Cleveland by about an hour) so once winter hits we will have to do work inside.  I am hoping we can at least get all the windows done (the ones we didn't get replaced need to be repainted and caulked) before it gets too cold to work outside.  Our goal is to get all the shutters repainted too and then in the spring we will repaint the garage and side door to the garage.

Do you have any projects picked out for your new house?

    Anniversary
  • Hopefully the weather holds off a little for you so you can get all of your outside work done. You probably have a month and a half or so, it looks like you should be good!

We have some things we want to do right away.  The master has some ripped up carpet that needs to be replaced (it's pink so we would have torn it up anyways). And the walls in the master are pink, too so we def want to paint that asap.  I don't really want a pink room. haha We want to put laminent flooring in there and paint the room a grayish-blue color. So that's our first project. We just want to get moved in and slowly we'll get to each room and most likely just paint it.  The house is in amazing shape!  The elderly couple that lived there had been retired for probably around 20 years or so and the man seemed like a perfectionist that liked to put money and time into his house.  Which means we really don't have a lot of projects that absolutely need to be done.  It's in amazing shape, we got super lucky with this house!

  • That's great and sounds a lot like our house!!! On the inside there is not really much we want/have to do.  We want to paint the rooms to make them our own (so that will make for some nice winter projects).  The only big thing we want to do inside still is to tear up the carpet in two of the bathrooms.  For whatever reason, the previous owner had carpet in the main floor bathroom and the master bathroom!! We both think that is crazy (and probably disgusting under the carpet), so we will be ripping it up and putting tile or something else down!

    Anniversary
  • It's really nice not having to do anything and being able to put your money towards making the house your own!

Carpet in the bathroom is super strange. I don't think I've ever seen that before.  I hope it's not too gross when you take it out.  We have a weird bathroom feature, too.  The master bath and the main bath both have a door that when it opens hits the toilet.  It seems smarter if it open the other way, away from the toilet. Especially because there's room for it to swing the other way. Nothing big but just weird.

It's interesting to go into a house and see what other people did that make no sense.

Rough day? My day was just super long!

I have been sick since last Wednedsay, but this week we had a huge conference for preferred suppliers- they flew in from all over- and I was in charge of the event. So I havent gotten much sleep ALL week and it is really catching up to me. I cant wait to sleep in tomorrow!
