Can someone please tell DH
Can someone please tell DH to get over it!
So my BIL & SIL had a baby 2 weeks ago tomorrow. They also have an 18 mth old. BIL lives 10 mins from us and DH always gets pissy that they don't call and invite us over to see the kids (or kid before the new baby). Well now the weekend is here and I knoww my MIL & FIL are going to visit them so I said why dont we swing by! We haven't seen them in 2 weeks! He got all huffy bc he didn't get an invite. HELLO it's YOUR family can't you just say we are stopping by too? I know my SIL would say yes she wants us around her boys. Maybe if we all think really hard about sending him messages to grow up he will just give in and go over there!! AHHH
Vent over...

Re: Can someone please tell DH
Do you have kids? If not.... um, yeah... tell your DH to "just wait". The first 2 weeks of a newborn - you aren't thinking straight. At all. For your DH to actually expect normal social protocol from them and to get pissy about it - he's insanely self centered.
Not even to mention that they have an 18 month old???
Tell him to get his head out of his a$$ and realize that they are probably fighting just to remember to eat and sleep! Formally invitin gfamily over is the LAST thing on their minds.

I don't you should wait to go meet your new neice or nephew...I mean don't stay long or expect dinner but I think you and DH both need to make the effort to go visit. Simply call and say "we would like to visit, what is a time that works well for you"
I keep telling him he is being such a baby! We were the first ones there after they gave birth, I was the first to hold the new nephew... My SIL and I are very close. I think DH is having some Uncle issues and it's getting on my damn nerves.

If he is so upset he doesnt get invited....how often do you invite them over..invites work both ways...
Also I have never met people who are related who don't self-invite when they want to see eachother. A simple phone call "hey how are you holding up, we'd love to come over, when is a good time" usually is perfectly acceptable...especially with a new baby, you cant really expect them to prepare a nice dinner, clean and decorate the house so that they can 'invite' people over in the same sense as before.
My Blog:Through My Eyes
I'm going to tell you BOTH to get over yourselves and calm the hell down.
At 2 weeks postpartum, I was not calling people - not even family - and asking them to come over to visit. Do you want to know why? Because at 2 weeks postpartum, I was getting about 3 hours of sleep each night, I was bleeding clots out of my vagina, I was sweating through my clothes, I was crying uncontrollably, I was leaking milk all over my shirts and adjusting to breastfeeding, and I wasn't showering that often because whenever I did have a free minute, I used it to nap instead.
That's life with a newborn. And I frankly didn't need people - even well meaning family - sitting around my house to witness it and wanting to be entertained. I would have flipped the eff out on anyone who just "swung by" for a visit. For real.
So you BOTH need to get over yourselves. When your BIL and SIL are ready for visitors, they will let you know. Until then, for the love of God leave them alone.
