Wellness cat food

Does anyone know if the Wellness canned cat food that has minced or sliced meat is as healthy as the solid canned food?  I gave my cat the minced one and he gobbled it up, so I was wondering if there's something not as healthy in it that makes it taste better.  Thanks!

Re: Wellness cat food

  • I'm not too sure about this, so someone please correct me if I'm wrong... but in my search for a decent canned cat food, I've noticed that a lot of minced/sliced/cubed foods are served in a gravy, which adds carbs/wheat gluten that cat's just don't need in their diets. I'm sure it's more paletable, but it's not the best thing to be feeding them.

  • It could also be that he prefers a chunkier texture.  Before we switched to raw, we fed Weruva wet food because one of our cats will not eat the pate (smooth) style food.  She is the biggest diva ever, but that is another story.

Blue Buffalo makes a flaked variety, but I can't remember if it's in a gravy or not.

I think Merrick also makes a chunkier style wet food.
