LayneNP.....

Hi! As you probably know by now, we're in Lake Nona right down the road from youBig Smile We love this neighborhood (except for the traffic on Narcoossee sometimes)

I was wondering, does your DH get his hair cut at one of those several places the shopping center at Moss Park Rd. - and if so, which one? My DH went to Great Clips and got a really crappy haircut, so now he's avoiding them.Tongue Tied Thanks!

Re: LayneNP.....

  • Sorry but Im gonna but in.

My DH goes to Big Leauge.  He loves them.

    Good Luck

  • Yes, actually we've both used Great Clips.  B had been there several times and for a while he was happy with them. BUT, the last time we went there, we went together.  It was only my second time going there.  And it was a disaster.  The girl I got barely spoke English.  I told her I wanted a good 2-3 inches off and she barely trimmed half an inch.  I asked for my hair to be blown dry since we were running errands afterwards and she dried it for about 2 minutes.  B was done so I said forget it.  We paid and we left.  I got home and got to really get a good look and my hair was completely uneven, by about an inch.  And the whole rest of the cut was a mess.

I called the manager, told her the problem.  She knew right away who had cut my hair and offered to fix it if I came back.  When I went back the manager kept leaving me to go over to the girl who messed up my hair to help her with the customer she was with.  In the end, the manager agreed that the cut was horribly uneven and said she'd have to take a lot off to even it up.  I told her that was fine, I wanted a few inches off anyway!  But can you imagine if I didn't?  She ended up giving me a really cute cut but never offered to refund my money.  And of course I felt like I had to tip her because she did do me a favor.  So I ended up paying more to have my cut fixed, which left a bad taste in my mouth.

Anyway, that was a long story.  Basically, I've lost faith in that store.  B didn't like his haircut either but it wasn't worth it to him to go back.  This all happened about a month ago so we obviously haven't needed cuts since then.  But our plan was to try Hair Masters one plaza over, next to the Walgreens and Dunkin Donuts.  It looks slightly more upscale so I'm hoping it will be better.  That is my only recommendation.  What was your situation with that Great Clips?

  • At GC, DH's haircut was also just really uneven, both in front and back. She obviously just rushed through it and didn't really care if it was good or not, as long as they got their money.

He was able to get it fixed, but we both would rather have a place that will do it right the first time w/o a hassle. DH is almost done w/grad school and has already started interviewing, so this is pretty important!

Since then he's been to Big League which was OK, but since there's still Hair Masters and Great Looks, I thought I may as well look for some feedback. I suggested he try Hair Masters next - if I can get him to do that I'll post the results.

When we lived nearer to town he used to go to Carr's in Baldwin Park, which was really good, and it would be great if he could find a comparable place in Lake Nona. (I wonder if they're planning to put one in the new strip on Narc  north of Northlake?? That would be very nice)

  • If you and I are thinking of the same strip, I think I saw signs that those are only going to be medical and business offices.  No retail.  I was pretty bummed about it.  Ever since I saw those going up I was hoping for some fun retail shops.

But definitely let me know if you go to Hair Masters and what you think!
