First post - Changing name and registering to vote?
Hi everyone - I'm newlyfitz and I just got married. I spent a good deal of time on the knot boards (different sn) and on weddingbee, but I'm bored of wedding drama and thought I'd see what's up on the nest!
I do want to get to legally changing my last name (I've already done so socially and in my professional life), but am worried that I won't be able to in time to register to vote with the new name. Have any other nesties dealt with this? I know the registration deadline is relatively soon, and this coming election is super important to me, both nationally and locally.

When you go to change your DL, the DMV should be able to update your voter registration and then you'll get your card in the mail.
I just had to renew mine (even though I just got a new one last year for my new name--sigh!) and they asked me if I wanted to register, so I had them update my name on the registration and everything. I got a card in the mail to confirm my information.
Yup, just go to the dmv and do it at the same time as changing your name on your dl.
They prefer you go to the ss office first then the dmv. I went to the dmv first and after I was done there went to get my ss changed. I waited all morning and into lunch to get a new dl and it took 15 minutes to do my ss.
