Another baby shower post :)

I'm co-hosting a shower for my sis (1st baby). The shower will be Dec 1st. We've booked a place that serves brunch and mimosas (but it's a very plain banquet hall). I've come up with some ideas: http://pinterest.com/kristaspada/baby-shower-girl/

I'm naive to hosting baby showers, so any advice on budget, menu, games, ideas and favors will surely help!

TIA!

If the venue serves brunch, what do they offer? Are you looking to add to it?

For favors, go edible, or skip entirely. People pick things they think are cute, but 9 times out of 10, they go into a junk drawer or the trash.

For decor, I would let your invite be your guide, have you chosen yet?

Budget depends entirely on what you can afford. Have you determined that? From there, decide how many guests to invite. Will this be friends and/or family?

  • Truly, all I expect when the venue is a restaurant is fresh flowers on each table in the theme colors (pink or blue or her nursery colors), so I wouldn't sweat decorating.  And maybe you could do some of those tissue paper poms since you said it's such a plain venue.

To keep your costs down, work on a fixed menu with the restaurant of maybe 3 options so that people can't order a la carte and raise your costs.  Make sure your menu has a mix of savory and sweet items.

I agree with J&J to either do something edible like a cute decorated sugar cookie for a favor or nothing at all.  People just don't use them.
