Pure Barre

I went to my first class last night and holy bejesus it was SO hard! I had to adapt a lot of the movements and stopped a couple times but am still very sore today and I know it will be even worse tomorrow. I plan on going back tomorrow night since I already registered for that class and for Saturday, plus I felt extremely energized afterwards.

Has anyone else tried this class?  If so what was your experience? How long did it take your body to get used to the movements and what did you do to help yourself recover between classes? Is it a horrible idea to continue to work out when you're sore?

Re: Pure Barre

  • Hey!

I started Pure Barre about 4 months before my wedding and noticed a difference within 3 weeks....STICK WITH IT...the changes are incredible...

The idea is small movements (and often on your toes, instead of flat footed) that lengthen the muscle and do not build bulk. Try to focus on your the body part section that you are on (for example, in the "seat" section, if they tell you to lift your leg, the ONLY reason your leg should be moving is because you are squeezing your seat :)

My arms have changed tremendously and my butt has lifted.   My abs have always been my trouble spot but I've noticed a big difference there as well (mostly b/c crunches are worthless and Pure Barre focuses on the c-sit position for total ab work:)....

I promise you will be happy you stuck with it...it gets easier....hang in there!!

  • Thanks!! I just finished my 3rd class and I did almost everything without stopping, which is HUGE for me.

I'm trying to stick with it, as I feel great after every class (drenched in sweat, but great.) The studio is a little far from both my home and work and the classes are expensive but it's the first exercise in forever that I've really enjoyed. So I'm hoping I can make it work with my schedule.

  • I love barre method!  I go to Xtend Barre, but not too often because it is a bit of a drive.  It is super hard, but like you said, I always feel energized afterwards.

I think you'll get less sore as you do it more often.  Enjoy!   :)
