Ella goes back to the ENT tomorrow to determine if a second surgery is needed on her ears. Appears her tubes are not working effectively and her left ear, while on antibiotics, is draining excessively. Ella's pedi also noted that she had significant amounts of scar tissue in both ears, which could be hindering the tubes. We were told that this may need to be removed:( And the scariest of all is the idea of Ella's ears being permanently scarred by the large amount of ear infections (19) she's had. Prior to her tube surgery she had a 40% loss in her ears but her ENT wanted to wait until she turned 1 to discuss options. Tomorrow we discuss options...(((sigh)))
Hoping that we can figure this out for our baby girl. She shouldn't have to live on antibiotics or be miserable 24/7.
Re: please cross your fingers for us...
oh lisa, thoughts and prayers and big hugs to ella!
i really hope that things will be ok.
poor baby ella!!!
I hope everything is well for Ella!
My little sister grew up with tubes in here ears and she is fine today. Hope that helps a alittle.
Thoughts are going out to you!!! Not sure which ENT you're seeing but if you decide you want a second opinion I highly recommend Dr. Robert del Junco. He is out of St. Joe's and is seriously one of the best doctors I have ever seen. He took my tonsils out when I was 21 after 5 years of trying everything else. He is very conservative and won't do surgery unless he thinks it's absolutely necessary but will if that's what it takes. With me he didn't want to take my tonsils out because I was a) older and b) asthmatic (tonsils are the first defense against germs getting in the lungs) so we tried other things with success for awhile and finally it came to a point where he said no more, we're taking them out. He saw my DH for frequent nosebleeds and quickly diagnosed the problem and fixed it with a simple cream when other doctors were saying surgery.
Anyway, just think super highly of him and he does see pediatric patients.

It says he has a Newport office which I think is new. I've only ever seen him at the one in Orange.
Oh my, poor baby. Sorry she has to go through all of this. I will keep her in my thoughts and prayers.
Poor Ella. I hope they find answers and are able to help her with her pain and discomfort. I'll be praying for all of you!!! ((((HUGS))))
Thanks everyone!!
Ella's ears are still infected but they think it could be an adverse reaction from the tubes. Instead of proceeding straight to surgery, they want to exhaust all options because they really are not quite sure what's going on.
This appt they suctioned out an abundance of puss from Ella's ears. There was also a crusty film in her ear, which the dr thinks could have prevented Ella from receiving an adequate amount of medication to the ear. So, now that this has been removed they have put Ella on a stronger ear drop. I'm praying that this works.
Although Ella screamed while he ears were being cleaned out, she did seem much happier after the process. So, we go back next week for a f/u. Hopefully it will be only good news:)
oh lisa, thanks for the update. poor baby ella, and i cant imagine this is any kind of easy for you!
continued thoughts and prayers and hoping for great news on your next f/u.
