Anyone been watching the "Honey boo boo" show? I saw it last night for the first time since I've been hearing so much hype about it. All I have to say is WOOWW those people seem very comfortable in their skin!!
Re: Jeepers
At ten of 6 this past Sunday morning, I went to watch the rerun of Mad Men. On the way to AMC, I passed by MTV and a rerun of Jersey Shore was in progress.
I watched about 3 minutes of this revolting bullshit --- I couldn't figure out if this person was out of it, had marbles in his mouth or he was drinking all night/all day long. He mumbled throughout the scene --- wow -- how can anybody at all watch this patent nonsense???
MTV used to be a cool place to go. this was back when when they had contests with those outrageous prizes -- and where you'd also go to hear/see some good music. Not anymore.
Nestie Bestie with the lovely RockABye
MTV hasn't played music videos in yyearrrss. Let me take that back I think at 7 am they play music videos for an hour while everyone is getting ready for the morning but other than that I haven't really seen any in a while. They made an MTV 2 a while back which was made so they could show all the music videos on there but eventually even that channel was over run by tv shows.
I edit some reality TV stuff. Nothing you see is real! NOTHING! I can't tell you how many times I've seen producers yell at people off camera to get them to cry, then roll the camera and get the reaction they wanted. Bachlorette is one show that's so full of crap it's piled high.
I can't stand being friends with people that watch this stuff, it's like listening to sheep talk. Baahhhh bahhhh follow the consumerism. People are naturally geared towards the failure of others, or shows that just beat down other people with out providing any facts. (Rush comes to mind, so does FOX News FAUX NEWS)
Just my two cents. Being on the creation end of things I know what's not real, and nothing you watch actually happened.
Fox news is fake?
Shows like this disgust me: Toddlers and Tiaras, Keeping up with the Kardashians, Jersey Shore, Honey Boo Boo, Dance Moms, The Bachelor/ette, Four Weddings, the list goes on. I'm ashamed of what our TV has become...
I've seen how these dumb shows work -- a real long time back, there was this TV show that created quite a stir --- The viewer would see the audience going beserk after one of the guests threw in his 2 cents, there'd be screaming and shouting, etc.
It was sort of like the way Jerry Springer runs his show.
I got tickets to a taping of this show; a guy in work had a part time job working for that show so he got some of us tickets.
What a farce.
The audience was stacked and there were "ringers" in the audience. Before the show was taped, the guy who was the MC came out and coached us: told us to shout as loudly as possible, scream like banshees, etc.
Whenever the taping stopped (this would be to cut to a commercial) the shouting and screaming also stopped, as per the emcee. He'd tell everybody to cut it out.. The whole thing was phoney a farce and more or less scripted.
I'm pretty certain none of these reality shows are real; they're all scripted also.
How about making some real documentaries and showing them on TV? Subjects like what it's really like to struggle with a weight problem, what it's like to have a chronic disease and live with it day to day, even something like what it's like to be an aspiring actress or dancer and make trip to audition after audition?
There wouldn't be any sensationalism in that. It's too tame and too down to earth for TV.:(
