that everyone on this board is registered to vote. Well I feel really strongly about people voting. I don't really care who they vote for, I just want them to vote. Some of the people on the boards I frequent didn't know they needed to change their registration. I would love to just remind people to get registered.
Re: I am assuming
Sometimes, I wish we had a test where you had to be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of the issues and candidates before being able to vote (at whatever level), but obviously that would never fly.
I just about died last week though- DH and I were driving through our (very conservative) city and there was a huge sign put up that just said 'Vote Republican.' Didn't specify a person or an issue- just... flat-out, 'vote straight-ticket Republican' advertisement. I thought we usually at least pretended to have more subtlety. *shrug*
I used to share the notion of wanting everyone to be registered and vote. Then I met my new co-workers.
I haven't had the intestinal fortitude to suggest voting to them after they told me the Federal Reserve is who gets the money from employers and then disburses it for direct deposit payroll participants each pay day.
In the essence of fairness, I've seen that from both sides. A lot of Congressional/Senate candidates ride the Presidential candidate's coat tails into office. Meaning that people are disgusted by a certain candidate and it spills over into local/state politics.
Oh, I don't doubt it- it's just that where I live, a sign that said 'Vote Democrat' would probably be set aflame/torn down/vandalized within 24 hours. Ha.
It's just the principle (regardless of who is doing it). Obviously plenty of people vote straight-ticket either way but I wish people would at least pretend to actually read up on the issues and candidates first, and decide what they think is best.
Ive seen the same around here with voting Democratic.
