Dogs and Separation Anxiety
Has anyone used Sentry- Calming Diffuser or Comfort Zone- D.A.P.?
I have a weimaraner that is 7 years old and she has chewed her way out of 2 cages now. As soon as she gets in her cage she starts panting, by the time we get home she has drool all over in the cage. She scratches and tries to get out. Until she actually does get out. I wish she could just lay down and chill, but she freaks out in there. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Re: Dogs and Separation Anxiety
We contacted two behaviorist and they both recommended talking to our vet about meds. We tried a few before we ended up with prozac (we have since had to add an additional med Trazadone) and she is SOOOOOO much better. She is the same silly, love monkey without the panic and fear. We've tried a few times to lower her dosage thinking she may have matured and grown out of it per our vet and it did not go well. Our vet agrees that she, like some people, will like require meds for the rest of her life to be normal. She's almost 5 years old and doing great.
I would talk to your vet and look for a behavior. Anxiety sucks and I cried everyday knowing that while I was at work, she was home in full anxiety and panic mode.
Yep, and they don't work. For us that is.
Try the B.O.N.D. method and drug Reconcile. That will help, and the drug is only short term with training.
