How the economy can be going under, and in the worst shape in who knows how long....yet the Dodgers can offer Manny Ramirez $45 MILLION for 2 years???? Am I missing something here??
And I know there are more pro players that make that much and more!

I know it seems crazy. But... they know they'll get their money back on that investment because of his value to the team.
People are still going to sporting events like mad regardless of the economy! Go figure!
i have the same question when i see every restaurant i pass on a friday night, busting at the seams...when walmart is as packed and as annoying as ever....etc.
i mean, i won't deny that the housing and stock markets are bad....but i think there is a lot of fear being spread through media and government...
My mom works at wal-mart and she said a few weeks ago that she had so many customers go through her line buying anywhere from $400-$600 worth of groceries, all the while the economy is in a disaster.
not at all a surprise... i mean, i am sure that there are a lot of people out there who are struggling and having a hard time...and i am sure that there are just as many people who are not living on a budget of any kind and using credit as a primary means of making purchases.... but really, you would think with "as bad" as things are supposed to be, lines and crowds everywhere would be much less...
hell...even disney was crowded!!!
