Did Romney use a cheat sheet during the debate?

I'm sure some of you have seen this already, but there is some suspicion that Romney used crib notes during the debate. Not sure if I believe it.  I honestly can't be sure from the picture.  Any thoughts?

Re: Did Romney use a cheat sheet during the debate?

  • After analyzing the video, a la Zapruder film, I can't really tell.  To be honest, there are so many production eyes on the stage, I highly doubt it.  I think it's grasping at straws to explain why he did so well and Obama was so stale.

I'm not a fan of Mittens and even I rolled my eyes and thought "Oh good grief."

  • I agree.  It's impossible to tell, so I'll just go with grasping at straws.  Although I can't stand Mitt.
  • I'm going to use the NFL's rules on reviewing a play- you have to have indisputable evidence to overturn the call.
  • I think people were just surprised by his performance and are looking for an explanation.  Same reason why you get people saying stupid things like Gore's comment about Obama not being used to the altitude.  People just want to know why.

He was just better prepared, IMO.  I hope Obama gets his azz in gear for the next debate.

  • I agree with Ella. This is grasping at straws, IMO.

Mitt's not an unintelligent guy. I simply fcvking despise his social policies and his complete inability to relate to the middle class. I think he came better-prepared than Obama, plain and simple. Disappointing.

I also think the media's focus on the stupid Big Bird joke/comment is embarrassing. Media dudes, Obama lost that debate. I get you're rankled and all, but you're embarrassing yourselves going after the Big Bird comment with great fervor, of ALL the douchey things you could go after. They're just not helping their cause.

I will be interested to see the debate on social issues, where I believe Obama shines. Mitt's opinions are not the popular ones here, so it will be very interesting to see how it goes. Obama would do well to prep himself and bring his A-game.

  • A cheat sheet isn't what made the difference the other night.  Even if Obama had had all the notes on the world, he still couldn't deliver a message worth hell.  Obama lost plain and simple.

Plus, everyone knows republicans write their cheat notes on their hands, not paper.  (Who says Sarah Palin isn't relevant anymore?)

I'm not sure I agree with you.  Yes, focusing on big bird specifically makes it farcicle, but saying you will defund  PBS when it would not even effect the budget is a big deal.  It just highlights how out of touch he is.  He really has no clue how to help this country.  To me PBS is a treasure, not just something to be tossed away.

Also, he fired up his masses about PBS and its annoying as hell. Now I have to listen to ignorant people spout off on it.  ::sigh::

I feel they need to focus on that sentiment, rather than the silly Big Bird comment. We agree, I just worded it differently. :)

  • Isn't the "cheat sheet" a hanky?

I wonder how many people who talk about PBS being a treasure actually give voluntarily to it.  I think that if Sesame Street were so valuable for the education of our young people, certainly private funding could be found.

  • It is my hope that if Romney does win and PBS is cut, another network will pick up the show.

I think it was a hanky. Who knows.

I believe PBS is a treasure and I donate to it. As well as to public radio.  In college I was a student fundraiser and when the campaigns for public tv and radio came around we would all beg to be assigned.  The people contacted through those campaigns were always the nicest and most likely to give again.  Caller of the month up in here!

But not everyone who watches the channel can afford to donate.

ETA: I don't actually love Seasame Street particularly. My kid likes Elmo, but that's it. Super Why is where its at, yo. Along with Frontline, This American Life, and Antiques Roadshow.

That's just the point, though.  If it were funded like other stations it would lose what's great about it.  It would no longer be purely educational, but would contain commercials and advertising that many parents don't want their child to be watching.  You're a teacher, I'm surprised by your stance on this AB.

    I do!

The entire point of PBS is that it has an independent and non-commericial interest, namely the public.  Without public funding PBS is just BS.
