Running Cramps and Dry Heaves

I have been running consistantly for well over a year now.   I average about 8:30 pace.  I have never had any issues in the past, however lately everytime I run I get cramps in my side about 1.5 miles in.  And by the time I finish, I am dry heaving.  I haven't changed anything with my pace, form, pre run preparation, etc.  So, what gives?  Do any of you have any advice?  Thank you!!

  • Are you properly hydrated before you run?

This was my question as well. Are you eating?  Also, are you focusing on breathing? Maybe its just your boy telling to slow down for a bit

  • This. Are you drinking enough water during the day? With that said, be careful of how much water you are drinking right before a run. I tend to get really bad cramps when I try to chug a lot of water before a run because I know I didn't drink enough during the day. Make sure you are steadily maintaining your water intake.

Also your food - Are you eating enough? Are you eating back the calories you typically burn for a run? Maybe try to have a small snack like an apple or a banana before a run and see if that helps you.
