Have you ever considered NFP? Check it out!
My husband and I just started looking into NFP (natural family planning) and FAM (fertility awareness method). I am AMAZED. after reading up on it, i ditched the birth control and I am pretty happy
If you have never considered it as an option, I would go to your local library and pick up a book or two. Even if you never use it, it taught me a lot about my body, my cycle, and how I can know when is my best chances to avoid pregnancy (or when the time comes, to become pregnant).
I was surprised what i found out and also that I had never heard of it before. So i figured i'd spread the good news!
Re: Have you ever considered NFP? Check it out!
I have read plenty of material about this method but I have never used it. I agree that the topic is a wonderful read for every woman and should know her body and how her fertility works.
While I think this method makes a lot of sense, it does leave a lot of room for error/carelessness. I use as a secondary birthcontrol in addition to the bith control that I use 100% of the time.
If getting pregnant wouldn't be a huge disaster for me right now, I'd happily use NFP exclusively, but right now I consider 2 methodes of birth control necessary.

I've been using FAM since I had our baby. My period didn't come back until 10 mo. postpartum, but I was tracking my cycle & temp, so I knew exactly when to start using secondary birth control.
Both of us love that there are no side effects or cost, (other than having to buy condoms now and then). Plus, we only have to use protection a few days out of the month, which is good news for us horndogs.
We are using the charting method to avoid. I was on the pill prior to marriage and I didn't like the way it made me feel. Some people argue that it doesn't really work, but it has been working for us. We just use condoms during my fertile time.
Basically I take my temp every morning at the same time. I chart it on FertilityFriend.com for free. I also chart my cervical mucus. I use ovulation prediction kits that I order online to see when I am fertile. Then we use condoms until I have confirmed that I have O'ed. Some women also check their cervical position.
I recommend Taking Charge of your Fertility book. You can get it cheap online used. Also Fertilityfriend.com has some tutorials that help. I use both things to reference questions I might have.
