Our tech team has launched updates to The Nest today. As a result of these updates, members of the Nest Community will need to change their password in order to continue participating in the community. In addition, The Nest community member's avatars will be replaced with generic default avatars. If you wish to revert to your original avatar, you will need to re-upload it via The Nest.

Hey, I don't know if you saw my other post, but we used our fireplace for the first time yesterday and it set off our smoke alarms upstairs. Do you have a fireplace? Did you experience anything like that?

no, missed that post. We do have a fireplace- turned it on yesterday for the first time this fall - yay!
The first few times we ever turned it on (back in 2010) set off the alarms and smelled really, really bad. They told us to expect this and that it was "normal" when we did our walk through on closing day. We just opened our windows and then it was a non-issue.
Even yesterday it smelled a little bit at first since it was the first time running it.
