My fiance and I live in an apartment. Currently we spend 800 alone in rent. We still have a nice savings going. In January our lease is up. His parents are allowing us to move in with them for 7 months rent free. We are a very close family, and they have a whole separate area for us to live. Not expecting any big problems with the living situation. Homes in the area we want are in the 100 thousand range. We want to have a house that we can easily pay off and have a savings for our future. I just cant wait to finally have a place to call our own. We are very determined to have the 20 percent plus some to put down on the home. Just wanted to talk about it, because I just love the idea of having my own place. Apartment living is just not for us.

Apt living can get old especially when you start to get too much stuff and out grow a place.  H and I are at that point.  After the wedding and receiving so many gifts we found that we didn't have room for everything and ourselves in our townhouse.  Your lucky that you get to live rent free for 7 months and save!  H and I close on our house later this week and we're so excited to have room and be able to use our wedding gifts. :-) GL!

I agree with KB.  My husband and I have been married for a little over 6 months and our very modest 2 bedroom apartment is way too small.  We have been looking for a year and finally found a home (closing Nov. 2nd).  That's a great that your inlaws are allowing you to live with them to save money.  Best of luck.  Remember, it may take time to find the right house, and don't jump on the first thing you see.
