What time is your garbage pickup?

Ours is at 6:15 a.m. I never knew they picked up that early! It's super annoying b/c it wakes Wes up and I'm always right in the middle of getting ready for work. As it is construction starts at 7, but that extra 45 min makes a difference. I'd like to start a movement where everyone takes their garbage up to the model home so they don't have to drive through the plan...

Re: What time is your garbage pickup?

  • Ours is fairly early in the morning, too. I know I see the truck in the neighborhood when I leave for work at 6:10.

  • HAHAHAHA 6:15 would be a dream.

Unless there is a late Steelers game the night before (our pickup is Monday morning), they come through anywhere from 4:15-5:30. Oh and this is every other Tuesday as well for recycling.

I've called the garbage company before about this (because it would wake up Conall, too) and the owner told me that guys leave when they are done - so if they are done by 11am, they're done for the day (which motivates them to go out early); especially in the cold Winter. I told him that I didn't have the same luxury and that since they were waking my kid up at 4am, I was then up for the rest of the day and didn't get to leave work at 11am.

He apologized, but even taking it to the Boro did no good (I was hoping there was a noise ordinance law or something). Conall has eventually gotten better and sleeps through it now.

The pro to this early pickup, though, is that I can pull my cans back in before I leave for work; which means I don't come home on bad weather days to cans strewn across the road, lids missing, etc.

  • I usually pass them as I'm leaving for work around 6:45/6:50am.

My first thought would be noise ordinance too - the township over comes around 5- 5:30 am on Monday & I often thought about calling to check to see if they should be coming later.  Anything before 6 is just obnoxious!

No idea when ours come but it isn't before 8 am b/c my stuff is still there when I leave for work.  Funny so many get picked up around 6 am !

  • Between 6am-630am here too.  I'm always standing there with my fingers crossed that C sleeps through it!

  • In our old neighborhood when EJ was little, they were there around 6.  She wasn't easily woken by noise in general (plus woke up that early on her own at that point).  The crew changed and they came later though before we moved. Probably closer to 8.  I  haven't noticed when the new house garbage gets picked up. I thought it was late and then they showed up really early once. So I am not even sure.  I like the early pick up too so we can put the cans away early and there is less of a chance of the crows picking apart the bags in the morning.

What?? I'd be livid! That's the thing -- I can understand them wanting to be done with work early, but sometimes you just have to work on everyone else's schedule and most people don't want to be woken that early by a big obnoxious garbage truck! They really should have to abide by stricter rules than that.

I'm surprised to see that so many have an early pick up. I have never seen them come earlier than like noon, even when I was a kid. I just figured maybe they were doing ours early to avoid the construction vehicles that roll in at 7, but I guess that's not the case.

  • Mine is around 5:15-5:30
