I'm going to try to make this as short and easy to understand as possible. I'm livid though, and I need opinions on what my next course of action is.
Last night I went out to the barn, and I discovered that a worker had made a mistake. The horse dentist was at the barn yesterday, and even though my horse was absolutely not scheduled, this worker took my horse to get his teeth done anyway. This includes my horse being sedated and having his teeth filed down. I already had this procedure done back in June with a different dentist, and it's something that is usually done once per year.
So I'm pretty pissed about this as it is, mostly because my horse was sedated not only without me even being there, but totally without my knowledge or consent. The fact that this happened really ticked me off.
But then to add icing on my pissy cake, the barn owner (who clearly knows it was a screw-up and that she'll likely have to foot the $150+ bill for this) starts trying to butter me up. She and her dentist are telling me what a crappy job my dentist did back in June. Telling me they could tell she didn't do certain things that she should have. Now I'm not totally knowledgable about equine dentistry, but I'm definitely not dumb either. I watched my dentist, and I saw her do the things they claimed she didn't. I really got the impression that they were trying to get me to say, "Oh, it's okay! Even though I didn't authorize this and am really upset about this, I'll pay for it!" Eff that. I don't care how much he might or might not have needed it done... I didn't authorize it, I'm not paying. However, last night I hardly said two words because I was simply in shock that it happened. I was seeing red, and so I pretty much just walked away from them at one point.
Here's where I don't know what to do. Do I not say anything, see if the barn owner brings it up with me or it shows up on my bill Nov. 1, and then go, "Uhh, yeah, no. Not happening," or do I write a pre-emptive email and say, "Hey, don't even bother trying to get me to pay for that because I won't" (obviously in more diplomatic terms)? I'm not really sure which course of action to take, and I would really like some advice.
For what it's worth... my horse is leaving this barn in less than a month anyway. I gave her the required 30-day notice last Friday night.

Not yet. I'll let you all know if I do.

Well, I went out last night, and the owner was unexpectedly there (eff). However, she was busy so I didn't run into her at all. She asked a friend "how I was doing," and my friend gave a vague response. Barn owner's daughter then apparently said, "She sent you an email... kinda says how she's feeling..." Her and the daughter left shortly thereafter and made the wise decision to just leave me alone and not talk to me.
As of this morning, no reply. I'm hoping they just accept it and let it die. I was so tense out there yesterday.
