For a true show stopper, make this potato gratin. You can assemble it in advance, but be forewarned: you'll definitely want to use a mandoline.
Ooh, and 6's apple cake would be a great addition if you don't have a pie crowd. (But OMG, did you hear about apple prices on the news last night? $1/lb because of the drought!)
And you know you have to have the Libby's pumpkin bread
And with that I'm out of ideas, because I'm The Potato Dish Daughter-in-Law and am not allowed to contribute other things lol.
I think my fall pinterest board has some really pretty ideas if you haven't seen it.

Thinking of doing cosmetic updates to a dated home? These were our costs.
Oh Thank you! You're such a sweetheart. That Potato Gratin looks gorgeous. I def' need more starches.
I didn't hear about apple prices yet.. in general my grocery bill keeps going up and up and we live in the "Apple State" but I think we're paying more than $1 for NY State apples... like 1.29
I can't believe you don't get to host Thanksgiving. It would seem a no-brainer in your family!

Tday on my side is always the same and I love it that way. I bring cranberry baked beans and saltine cracker cookies for the night before. For tday I do the veg tray, cranberry sauce, and peanut butter blossoms. I've had the cookie detail for oh, at least 20 years. I can knock out 12 dozen in under 2 hrs and none of them will be left.
On DH's side it's also the same- dry, cold turkey, honeybaked ham, frozen mac and cheese, Stove Top, bags of mashed potatoes, and a store bought pie. I hate it. We're doing Christmas with that side on Dec. 2 so I may use that to do Tday with my clan.

I love homemade cranberry sauce. Not only does it taste great, but it looks so pretty. I serve it an an oversized glass gravy dish that I had picked up at BB&B.
I just tried this apple cider sangria last week, and I plan on making a pitcher or two for Thanksgiving this year. It was easy to assemble, and looks/tastes like fall.
As for decorations, I fell in love with this idea last year.
I make that cranberry sauce every year and love it. It's especially good on top of cheesecake.
That's a good idea! I'm sure it tastes fantastic. We always have some left over, and I hate throwing it out.
I adore cranberries in a million and one ways. I make a good 20-30 cranberry nutbreads every year for gifts. I like to take this cranberry sauce and mix it with cream cheese too. I'll put it on bagels, cranberry nutbread, or use it on a turkey wrap- tortilla, cranberry cream cheese, turkey, spinach, blue cheese, candied walnuts. Now I want cranberries.
