Hi, my names Maggie, I'm 27 and I have been engaged for a little over a year. I work for a printing company and he works for a local supply company. We recently decided not to have kids.... oh and we are from SE Wisconsin. I don't know what else to share with you... any questions, just ask! I look forward to chatting with you ladies!
Re: Hi, I'm new :)
**6.30.12** I have found the one whom my soul loves.
We just recently decided.... Hes always been kind of "It really doesn't matter to me, whatever you want is fine but it would be really nice to be able to do whatever we want, whenever we want." and I've gone back and forth over this for a long long time because I don't want to someday regret NOT having kids. But then I look at the facts. We are not financially stable enough to have kids at this point, I had a really rough childhood (so really, I don't know the first thing about parenting), and I really like to be able to just get up and go whenever I want and do whatever I want. I really like not having that sort of responsibility. Not to mention, I just don't like kids from around age 6 or 7 until they're well into their 20s.... PLUS I like having nice things without having to worry about who is going to finger paint what next. Call me selfish, I won't deny it. I like my life the way it is. BUT we still haven't told our parents. We are kind of giving ourselves this year to make sure this is what we want 110% and if we still feel this way in August (fi's 30th bday), we will tell our parents. Its nice to know that We aren't the only couple out there that have doubts though.
There is nothing wrong with deciding not to have kids :-) My FI and I are in the same boat. We do enjoy being able to decide at 7PM on Friday that we want to go out for wine. All we have to do is put one of our dogs in a kennel and head out.
We both have nieces and nephews, so we get to enjoy the kids. But we like being able to give them to their moms/dads when they get cranky or dirty.
Welcome to the nest :-)
