  • Have you read anything good lately?  What's the best thing you've cooked/baked recently?

I'm reading Let's Pretend This Never Happened by Jenny Lawson.  Haven't tried anything new or exciting in the kitchen lately, but I made a really good banana cake a few weeks back.

Well, the last book I read was Duma Key by Stephen King. It was my first Stephen King book and I was pretty disappointed. But before that, I read The Murderer's Daughters by Randy Susan Meyers and I really enjoyed that one. Is your book any good?

Best thing I've cooked lately... well, I made an apple pie last weekend. It was nothing too special other than the pie crust was homemade. I recently perfected homemade pie crust and I can't make enough pies lately!! I also made some pistachio bread last week for the first time and it turned out great!! I'll be making pumpkin bread this weekend and I have a recipe for smores muffins that I would really like to try! (did I mention that I love to bake??)

  • Mmm... pistachio bread sounds amazing!

The book I'm reading is good - I don't know if you have seen the blog The Bloggess- but it is her "mostly true" memoir, and I love her humor and stories, so I'm enjoying it! I'm really excited for my pre-ordered copy of Kate Morton's The Secret Keeper to ship soon- she's my favorite historical fiction author.

I haven't seen it *runs to look it up*

I actually have started to read The Night Circus because I've had several friends on facebook who have posted about how much they enjoyed it but I'm having a really hard time getting into it. :/

  • oh and the pistachio bread was GREAT! I got the recipe from a lady I work with and it turned out SO SO moist and tasted so much better than I expected.
  • Feel free to share the recipe- it sounds great!  Wink

  • Thanks for sharing! This sort of reminds me of this recipe I have for pistachio cake that has a chocolate fudge frosting that my husbands family has made for years. Its my FAVORITE cake and it is always me requested birthday cake. mmmm
  • Yes, thanks for sharing!  I've recently discovered pistachio ice cream (while on vacation) and pistachio muffins at the grocery store.  I think pistachio bread is next on my list.  Smile
