Favorite bath towels?

I'm looking for bath towels that hold up well and are soft and plush.  Any recommendations where to shop?

Re: Favorite bath towels?

  • Hotel towels at Macy's. They are thick, absorbant, and super soft. Plus, they hold their color really well. They are a little pricey, but you can get them on sale usually. I also like the towels from L.L. Bean (those you can buy online). They are not as thick, but hold up very well to alot of washings and hold their color nicely.
  • Personally we didn't like the Hotel Collection at Macys - ended up returning them.  They pilled horribly and didn't dry us off good, as silly as that sounds.  We LOVE, LOVE Pottery Barn towels and bathmats - by the far the best I've ever used.  Expensive, but worth every penny.

  • I don't know how much you are looking at spending, but I found some great ones at Target, of all places.  My husband is very picky about towels & he loves these.  They are super thick & plush.
  • I love the bath towels from Restoration Hardware.  They are pricey, but they still look/feel great, and it's been a couple of years since we purchased them.  Just wait until you have a coupon.  You can sign up for emailed coupons on their website.

We also like these, we bought all RH Baby towels/washcloths for DS and they have help up well.  Unfortunately, their F&F deal just ended a few days ago.

we use the towels we got when we got married, but our 3  year old has a target towel and i prefer it to ours.

  • We have some from JCPenny that are really good quality.

  • Stay away from Thomas OBrien towels from Target. 5 years ago I got some great hand towels in that brand. Bought 5 new bath towels this year and they have pulled threads everywhere and the ends have come unstiched. I only wash towels with towels so I know its not catching on something. Terrible how the quality has changed.

  • We got the classic Pottery Barn towels for our wedding, and they are WONDERFUL!  Very soft and absorbant.

  • I like Lacoste & Ralph Lauren towels. I usually look for them on sale (which is frequently at the Canadian department stures where I shop). I am sure the same goes for most US department stores.
  • Another vote for Target towels. We still use a couple of sets that we got when we got married- 10 years ago. They've held up better than any of the other towels that we've bought since then.
