What do you suggest is the best way to get DIY pictures of a baby? I tried doing some outside, the light is good for the pictures but she is really bothered by the sun so she has her eyes closed in the pictures. : )
Any advice for best time of day, light, etc. is appreciated!
Thanks!
Jen
Re: Photographers
Indoors, right next to a window that gets good indirect light- easiest to find from Northern windows, or E/W windows when the sun is in the right spot. I do most of Gabe's indoor shots in our SE facing rooms in the morning, and in the NW facing rooms in the afternoon.
The few hours after sunrise and the few hours before sunset, are the magic hours, lighting wise, for outdoor shots. Most flattering for skintone, least likely to bother eyes, and none of those nasty shadows a high sun gives. A cloudy day is great, too- if either you or your camera can fix the white balance issues that come up. Parks with lots of tall, leafy trees are some of my favorites, too- they give beautiful, dappled shade.
Try again around 4pm- you should have a good hour or so of great light!
Thanks girls! I went out this afternoon and while the light was great Lily was not having it...... she was getting tired and in need of a nap at about 4:30 of course! : ) Needless to say she would not smile at all. I got a couple good shots (for me), I will post them once I put them on the computer. Maybe I will try again in the morning!
No matter what you do with lighting or a new camera, you ain't never gonna get a good picture of that baby.
