How long did it take to get your baby's birth certificate and did you have to do anything to get it?

 We got her social security card but not her birth certificate yet and I'd like to go ahead and apply for her first passport. It's been 3 months - is that normal?

We got DD's birth certificate about a week after we were discharged from the hospital.  Her social security card came a few weeks later.

That's strange that you haven't gotten it yet - maybe call the hospital's maternity unit and see what their process is?

I had to go pick up my daughter's in the township where she was born.

B's came in the mail a few weeks after we came home. I would call the hospital.

Ours came about a month after he was born.  However, it was wrong and after mailing away to have it fixed it took 3/4 months to get back.  When I called after a month, they told me they were running really far behind...  Back in March-April of this year.

Hmmm. Thanks for the responses. I'll give them a call.

You can go in person to Hopewell's Twp office (right down the street from the hospital) to get it.  That's what I did.  It's only $10 too.. so get a couple in case you lose one.  Since most townships charge a heck of a lot more for them.
