Debbie Downer

Im sorry to be such a downer on a beautiful Friday, but I just need to get it out.

DS's bio-dads co-murderer is being sentenced at 9:30 this morning. According to the paper he could do as little at 4 years for manslaughter and criminally neglegent homicide. 4 years!! Bio-dad was by no means innocent in this whole thing, he just came from a place where you fight hand to hand if there is a fight. Never any weapons. In Wilmington, weapons is the way all street fights are settled. He didnt deserve to die this way.

He was involved in bad things and he paid the ultimate price for it. But, please keep us in your thoughts today. This man deserves way more than 4 years. 4 years isnt anything compared to being dead. Its nothing compared to knowing your father was killed over drugs.

He took another human beings life. Not because he felt threatened, but because he has no soul. How could you have a soul and take the life of another person. You have to have a cold cold heart to be able to do something like that. This boy is 19 years old and has a prior record and will start the cycle all over again in 4 years when he gets out.

Please pray they keep this monster off the street and away from society.

They are asking that a member of the family speak during sentancing. Bio-dads father wont go because he cant control his anger, but we dont know if anyone else is going. So my parents are. My step-father is very well spoken and gave a beautful eulogy at the funeral. He is planning on speaking if there is no one else to do it. This says a lot about my parents considering everything bio-dad has done to us in the past. But they are doing this for my son and I hope as he gets older he realizes everything we have all done for him.

Again, Sorry for being such a downer, but I really could use some good vibes today.

Re: Debbie Downer

  • my goodness that is an incredibly terrible thing! four years doesn't seem long enough at all. many many thoughts headed your way
  • I will be thinking about you today. Please keep us updated and hopefully they will give him more of a sentence so that this doesn't happen to anyone else's family members.
  • Well the boy got 5 years in jail and 45 years probation. The kids IQ is so low the judge said he is boarderline mentally incompetent. He cant even read on a 3rd grade level. He was born with fetal alcohol syndrome and his mother was on drugs while she was pregnant.

He was the knifeman.  He admitted to everything and aplogized to his family and bio-dads family. The other boy that was originally thought to be the knifeman was already released and re-arrested twice for other things since then.  Everyone else was fighting clean (no weapons) and no one knew he had the knife and there was never any intention of anyone getting seriously hurt.

Because they were all high on whatever, they full story will never be known, but it all went down over $80.

Im not happy about the verdict, but with a 0 tolerance order in place after this kid gets out and 45 years probation, he will be back in jail within a few years of his release. He has no where to go when he gets out except back to where he came from ,a father that is currently serving 10 years for drugs an a prostitute mother that is in and out of jail.

Thanks for all your thoughts and love. I really appriciate it all. Now its time to move on and put all this behind us.

It really does say a lot about them.  And I'm sure he will realize it.  Hugs!

  • Sorry to be late to this.  My heart goes out to you and your son.  It is sickening to see our justice system at work.

  • I'm sorry you all have to go through this.  It's sad,  it you are probably right that he'll be back in jail.

    Did your dad speak?

Yeah he did. He just talked about how this whole thing has effected DS and how he is going to have to live the rest of his life knowing someone took his father from him. Just basiclly the complete senslessness of the whole thing and how many lives it has effected because of one stupid choice.
