Re: FFFC/Vent/AW
AW: DH is in Dallas this weekend and the ILs are keeping M for the night so I have a whole night to myself. I really don't know what I am going to do, but I do plan on taking a sleep aid so my stupid internal alarm clock won't go off at 7.
Vent: I had to talk to M's teacher yesterday. M told me that some of the girls in her class were calling her "baby". I asked her if they were playing pretend and she said no. It really scares me that name calling like that starts at 3. The teacher said she hadn't heard the girls talk like that in a mean way, but she is going to watch it closer to see if it happens again.
My sister's throwing a Halloween party in two weeks, and I wish it was this weekend. I'm so ready to hang out with adults, drink alcohol and block out how crappy the last eight weeks have been. And, my costume is super cute. :P
Random vent, but I really hate how jean sizes vary. I normally wear a size 10 at Old Navy, but I just bought a pair of their Rockstar jeans in a 10 that barely even get over my @ss. Lame.
This is my least favorite thing about ON. I swear I can walk into that store wearing one size, and walk out with a pair of jeans 2 sizes bigger than I'm wearing
. I've refused to buy jeans there lately because I don't like what size they force me to buy----their sizing blows.
Vent- I am pretty sure our rent house has mold in various areas. Our master bath, laundry room, and linen closet all smell very moldy and wet. I am debating about what to do since we still have not broke ground on our new house. I hate to keep my family in a moldy home but I also hate to move them again before our forever home is ready. Moving us twice in 6 months to a year is bad enough but 3 times seems extremely terrible.
AW- We got our final, final, FINAL plans back from the architect yesterday and I am beyond excited! I want to break ground before the end of the month so that may mean that I take a shovel and "break ground" myself just to say it happened. lol
Another AW - I have over 300 oz of milk stored in my freezer and my little guy is just over a month old. This is huge for me because I struggled to even have 2 bottles extra for my DD.
Confession: I think OSU's Darrell Williams got the shiiit end of the stick with his case. I'm no lawyer and I wasn't in the jury, so I don't know if there were things brought to light that the general public didn't know about, but absolutely nothing about his case (that we've been made aware of) adds up. I'm absolutely all for locking away rapists for the rest of their lives, but I really and truely don't think he did it.
I mean... he was found guilty of raping two women at a party where there were roughly 80 people. No one came to either of these girls' aid? We're they not screaming for help? Two seperate men were subpenaed to come back to Oklahoma (both jetted out of state ASAP after the allegations came to light) and neither one of them came back. He took and passed two lie detector tests. He was found guilty of raping two girls, sentenced to a year in prison this morning, the judge immediately suspended his sentence and now he's free to go, but he has to register as a level one sex offender. There is not one single thing about that that makes sense to me. He raped two women, yet he was released this morning? He only has to register as a level 1 offender (isn't that like for those who pee in public and whatnot?)? I'm sorry, but in my opinion, if a guy rapes two women and he's found guilty, he gets many years in prison and doesn't get off with a level 1 offender status. It just doesn't happen. Does it?
I don't think he did it. Either way, it's a horribly sad case all the way around: if he did it then he gets off so extremely easy and there is no justice for the victims, if he didn't do it then his life is essentially ruined (at least until he's 38-that's when the sex offender status drops) and the past two years of his life were wasted.
I don't know. Maybe I'm way out of line?
Bah. I realize after re-reading all this it's all mumble-jumbled. Forgive me.
FFFC/AW: DS is pushing 4 1/2 and has consistently refused to go on the potty (usually he won't even sit on it). This week I got some new books on potty training from the library and planned out a "potty party" for us to have today with rewards and silly songs (and he is running around naked all day). We have been talking up the party all week. I couldn't get him to use the potty this morning when he got up, so he did wet his pull-up first thing, but since then he has been accident-free and has peed in the potty 6 times. This has been a giant frustration for about the last 9 months, so it is great to finally have some success. I hope the momentum continues!
AW: A friend of mine from HS who is a professional photographer messaged me saying she is revamping her portfolio and would love to do some shots of just H and me. We just did family photos (which I love), but it will be nice to have more photos of just the two of us.
When I was looking at the colored ones at ON, the salesperson actually came up to me and told me to go up at least one if not two sizes. I appreciated that, because I did end up buying two sizes larger than normal. I could have just done one size up, but I didn't want them to be skin tight. I was amazed at the sizing discrepancy!!
AW: DH and I just officially sold our house today! Our builder called yesterday to tell us that we also got the lot of land we wanted in our dream neighborhood.. so double woot! It's in the second phase of the neighborhood so it won't even be ready to build on for 6-8 months, so we're looking at roughly 1.5 years of apartment living. We are planning to start trying for a family at the beginning of the year and DH didn't really feel comfortable with me going of BC (for some reason) until we sold the house so I can FINALLY quit that sh!t.
I'm so excited and anxious for this new season of life. Also, in our new house, we are creating a custom studio/office for my business so that I can shoot newborns from home. My little business has been booming recently and I am excited to see if I can make a full-time go of it in the new set up.
FFFC: Even with all this excitement, I'm not super stoked about living in an apartment for the next year and some change. And even though the FEVER has all but engulfed me, I'm also a little bummed that I won't get to truly nest and create a nursery until we get into the new house. Oh well... Those are super trivial things to worry about in the scope of the big picture...
Um, also. Hi.
I think this marks maybe my 3rd surfacing this month... lol
Confession:::: My fiance and I went all DHS on the neighbors this week..... They have two girls (ages 7 &3) that are out a lot. They also have a 5 year old boy who isn't allowed outside because he kept wandering to a really busy street nearby and someone called DHS on them
(like city street.. not neighborhood). Read: DHS has already visited this family once!
So this week, we find both girls playing in a cul-de-sac a block away while we're walking our dog. Older girl says mom is in the hospital having a baby... my fiance is like "there is no babysitter at their house- look! It's dark, garage is shut." (All true) So I ask the older girl, she says babysitter is there, named Belle. Then I ask younger girl.. she says mom is home. She's only 3 so I don't trust her much. But we're still very curious because they were out for at least 20 minutes with absolutely no supervision and the house looks completely vacant. And seriously... a 3 year old that is a block away?! I just don't think that's safe! So.. I worked up my courage and went and rang their doorbell...
A babysitter stumbled to the door after what looked like her nap. I just made up a story that the younger girl needed her.
But I'm still raising an eyebrow towards the babysitter and the parents... Something just isn't right.
And to add more questions.. today i asked the older girl if her mom had the baby and what her name was and she said "Belle!" I was like... isn't that your babysitters name? And she said "No. Her name is Katie."
So..... who the heck knows. It's weird though!
Yay!! Congrats on both! The time will fly by and you'll be in your new place in no time. And, um, surface more often. Thanks in advance!
We haven't lived here long and aren't confident enough in that decision. I know they're ok when they're in the house.. I'm just worried about when they're out. If this goes on, we'll look into it more.
And based off of our past experience, we're clearly not scared to take action.
With that said... we do live in a nice neighborhood in Deer Creek.. haha I made it sound like we live in the hood. Lol. We'll keep our eyes out for anything else suspicious!
Hi! I miss you guys!
FFFC: My grandmother is 80 years old, so I know she won't live forever. Still, while she was on the phone with me today talking for 20 minutes about a woman I never met who has been dead for almost 30 years, I was surfing the internet. I suck.
Vent: DH took a lower paying job. The upside is that he only works four days/week, no nights, and no weekends. I think I'm ok without the extra money. More than that, though, I hate that he wakes up several hours earlier than I have to (I only have to go in to the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays) which gets me up every time. He sucks at getting up quietly, but I don't feel like I can complain, since I get to go back to bed (even though I can't always fall back asleep.)
AW: I made Jezebel! It's my favorite feminist blog! While I miss you and my job in OK, the new job is going great. Check me out!

That is wonderful! Congratulations! You are definitely missed here, but I am glad the new job is going so well for you.
We definitely miss you too! I am quite impressed with your newfound fame! Congrats, lady!
Congrats, 5th! I miss you!
Vent: A co-worker has been driving me nuts since school started. She has complained about everything in her life, including the fact that we have to share a space in our school, to anyone with ears. It finally got so bad that another co-worker went to the head principal to tell him that she was tired of listening to all the crap and that it was time for him to step in.
AW: My department head spoke to me about the above issue, and I felt some vindication with the whole issue when she said that she and our administrators realize that I am not the problem, that she is generally unhappy and I seem to be bearing the brunt of her general unhappiness, likely because we share that space. It felt good to know that my department head and administrators recognize that I am not only good at my job, but that I do everything I can to work well with others. I hadn't said a word to them, and was trying to figure out a way to deal with this myself when they stepped in. It makes me look like the good guy...probably because I am!
Vent: I caught a cold. It's not even halfway through October.
AW: I stayed in bed all day, ate Chinese food, and canceled a car wash because, well, you can probably figure out how well that would have worked out today, and I don't feel one bit guilty about being lazy and taking care of myself. In the past, I would have probably forced myself to clean or do something productive, but the most productive thing I did was email some senior parents saying I had received their emails about senior yearbook ads, and I did that from the comfort of my bed!
Indeed!! I am so impressed - this is awesome! Way to be.
