Halloween Party

I am planning a halloween party for some 1-2 year olds. Any suggestions on kids and adult themed food?

Also, any games that would work well at this age for this group?

Re: Halloween Party

  • Games for the kiddos:

The therapist in me says do some sensory things like 'gross foods' like bowls of multicolored jello, cooked spaghetti, peeled grapes, etc, and some squishy things like the 'grow your own pumpkins, brains, etc' - the kind you stick in the water and let expand.  You can also do a Halloween version of bag toss for the 2 year olds, with little plush pumpkins (orange bean bags) and then a pretty painted Halloween themed set of holes.  You could also do shaving cream pumpkins (shaving cream and orange food dye) - found this on pinterest for Shamrocks.  Have outlines of pumpkins on thick posterboard.  Have the kids mush the shaving cream all over the area.  Then let it dry and cut it out in the shape of the pumpkin.

As for food, try chili hot dogs, vegetable platter, chips, etc.  Adults will enjoy a chili hot dog buffet with all the fixings and the babies can munch on hot dogs in singular.

  • Those are cute ideas the PP gave you for 1-2 year olds.  That is a really tough age group.  I like the shaving cream pumpkins especially.  DD's pre-school did a craft similiar to that with fall shaped leaves.

Re: adults - at this age if their kids are entertained that is always awesome!

I would also have some adult food and drinks - my Halloween Menu is below.  If you need any recipes - please let me know.

    Enjoy!

  • DD is two, and we have signed up to bring fruit in for her Halloween party at daycare.  DH found this adorable idea for it:

As far as games, that's a tough age.   A craft of some kind might be better.  Maybe a pumpkin coloring page.  Or, cut out pumpkin shapes from foam and let the kids color them and/or put stickers on them.   You could even give each kid a pumpkin to paint (a real pumpkin)

We are having my family over to carve pumpkins in a few weeks, and this is what we are serving for dinner:

    Mummy dogs

Pizza dough fingers (we just plan to serve with pizza sauce, not the sauce mentioned here)

Mac and cheese (we are just making it, then putting plastic spiders on top for decorative purposes)

We are also doing our own caramel dip in the crockpot with sliced apples
