Any experience with this birth control?? I'm looking into it because I'd love to only have my period a few times a year! I have heard it's really expensive.....is there a generic??
I'm curious how this type of bc works--do you start it one month no period, no period then get your period on your 3rd month? Or what?
Any experience, I'd love to hear!
Thanks!!
Re: SEASONIQUE
I haven't used Seasonique, but I've been on Sprintec for a few years now. It's really great for only having a few periods a year, but like PP said, be prepared for some breakthrough bleeding. Especially in the first few months.
Not sure how Seasonique works, but on Sprintec, I get a regular pack and skip the placebo week for 2 months, then take it in the 3rd. It's worked really well for me. The only real problem I've had that I find really hard to deal with sometimes is the acne. Then again, I think I'm more susceptible to hormonal acne because I'm susceptible to acne in general.
And one pack of Sprintec is $9.00.
I'm on a generic. It used to be Jolessa, but I have a different one now, so let me go check the name... Introvale is what I'm on now.
I get 12 weeks of active pills and one of placebo, which I don't bother to take. They're really only there to keep you in the habit of taking them at the same time each day.
I started on Seasonale, and with all three brands I've been on I have never had breakthrough bleeding, nor have I ever taken BC that wasn't on a 4 periods/year schedule. I haven't had any other side effects at all though, so I expect I'm just lucky in that the only kind I've tried has always worked flawlessly. My co-pay for 3 months worth is $30, but each year until I meet the deductible for my insurance the packs cost $120ish for 3 months supply.
I was put on seasonique originally because of my PCOS to help regulate my hormones. It might work for others, but for me it was AWFUL!!!
I had seriously heavy bleeding and horrible cramps.
If your hormones are pretty regular, this might work for you. I wouldn't recommend if you have any hormonal issues, though.
