Closing on Wednesday!

H and I are closing on our house on Wednesday (10/17)!  We're so excited!  What should we expect to happen at the closing?

I know there will be a lot of papers that need to be signed - our attorney said it would take around an hour to sign everything. And we need to come with a final check. Anything else I should expect to happen?

Re: Closing on Wednesday!

  • Congratulations!  I wish I could answer your questions but H and I are in the process of buying and will be closing in the next week.  It's so very exciting (and stressful)!

  • Hi, we closed this morning. We sat in conference type room with realtor and escrow agent, signed lots of documents, took about 40 minutes, gave the cashier's check for closing costs and shook hands, received keys and we were on merry way.
  • rachel - Congrats! I hope everything goes smoothly for you!

vpine - Thanks so much! I expected that it wouldn't be anything crazy. Sounds like a simple yet long process.

  • That is the fun part!  Just remember every project will take you 2 weekends more than you think.  At least that has been the case in my house.

  • haha I'm still trying to be a dreamer right now and I'm hoping we can finish flooring and painting the master plus moving a lot of things in just during a 4 day weekend. It'll probably be a stretch! But I'm hoping it works out with all of the help we're going to have.
