Question about Hal Hidgon's program

I'm thinking about running my first half marathon in April and have seen that a lot of people swear by Hal Higdon's training program. His Novice 2 program seems like the one I will go with, but my days off work are Sunday and Thursday so I would rather do my long run on Sundays instead of Saturdays. Would it be better to shift the entire schedule forward one day or swap Saturdays and Sundays (cross-train on Saturdays and long run on Sundays)? I'm completely new to this, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Question about Hal Hidgon's program

  • I followed his stuff before...its a good guide but I dont think its one you have to stick to 100% to make it work...see how  you can shift things around a little, make sure you work in the really important stuff especially the rest day.  I did a full marathon and b/c of life and work I tweaked the schedule a lot..good luck!
