Memory cards 4 cameras, photography wizards come in
I have a total of four. Two of them don't show up when I put them in my computer, the computer keeps telling me to insert a card although the card IS inserted...I thought it was my computer. I tried these two cards in my husband's computer the other night and his would not read them either. Do these cards just go bad after a while? If so I'm really disappointed in them because when I bought these two they were more expensive. I'm about to try them in my camera and see what happens...technology is not always your friend.
Re: Memory cards 4 cameras, photography wizards come in
The other night in photography class our teacher was talking about this. He said it isn't good to delete your pics off of the cards 1 by 1. Instead download them onto your computer and format your card. It erases all of the pics at one time. But I don't like to clean my cards totally off, so I've still been deleting 1 by 1. He said it can corrupt the cards. At the camera store here, they have a recovery program that can get pics off of a card that have already been deleted or formatted. So if you want those pics that may be an option.
DH says that you can try 2 things...
1. Put the cards back in the camera and format them (as pp mentioned)...keep in mind that this will delete the photos and you will lose them.
2. Check for updated drivers for the card reader...it's probably not this since they won't work on your DH's computer either, but it's worth a shot.
It's rare for cards to go bad, and it's extremely rare for both of them to go bad at once...
Did these particular cards work okay before now?
There aren't any photos on them, when I put them in the camera, the camera prompted "access" and would do nothing, wouldn't even take a picture with them in. I'm just guessing they have died or I have killed them somehow. They are just little sandisk memory sticks, one I bought when I bought the camera doesn't hold even 1 gig but I hate that I can' t use them. As for formatting...I have no clue how to do that, nothing I read in the beginning mentioned this and I've thrown all that stuff out long ago, it's just a stick it in the camera and shoot kind of memory stick for my Sony Cybershot camera.
OH and they worked just fine for probably a year or more.
