wall decor for rooms with long shared wall

Our townhome has a long wall that is shared by the entry, living, and dining room. When you come in the front door, you walk right into the living room. Ive not done a lot of decorating because ive been struggling to figure out how to set it up.  I made some "idea boards" for my husband, who thoughtit was too busy.  Can you offer some thoughts and suggestions?

 This is the view when you enter my home, looking to the right.   I was thinking formal pictures in the dining room (wedding, school, ect)

This is the view from the front door, looking to the right. I was thinking informal pics (instagram, prints, honeymoon) and maybe a clock with the times of our childrens birth.

 This is the view from the left corner of my living room, so you can see the entry door

I like the ideas in the last two pictures, but I agree and think the first one is too busy. In the first picture, I would take that large picture you already have there, and take two slightly smaller pictures to put on either side of it. If you don't feel that is enough, put a wall decal with a nice quote above it. The Dollar Tree frequently has them, and they are really nice quotes.

Honestly I would love a long wall like that for a gallery wall...do pictures down the whole length but all larger (11x14 or min 8x10)  ones spaced evenly like you might see in a restuarant/art gallery. Then it will look nice from both rooms without being too busy .

I love the initiative you took with your pictures! You definitely have a lot of great ideas. Some of these do look a little too busy, though, so you might want to simplify a little bit. Consider some of these ideas; I think the words on a ribbon or the picture frames would look great on your wall.

Even though the first picture looks busy it might get less busy if you remove the all the other stuff by that wall and leave only the pictures a little more spread out. In general a long wall needs a longer decoration, a narrow wall will work with narrow wall decor.

I really like this idea! There are a few companies out there that will actually turn your Instagram photos into wall murals, do some research on that. In regards to other wall decor, I would check out WallPops, they have a ton of options and their wall decals are as easy to remove as they are to apply. Best of luck!
