Whiny Wednesday

What's bugging you today?

Re: Whiny Wednesday

  • I vented about the timesheets the other now. Now my boss has changed them and said that everything we write down has to fit into one of the 7 categories they assigned us -- one of the four magazines, web, marketing, and a couple other things. Except, what about admin work, such as emails, phone calls, meetings, etc.? What about when I'm working on a story that will run in three of the magazines? (We're supposed to break down the time we spent into thirds and mark it as such.) My day is no longer going to add up to 8 hours if I have to fit everything into these categories, so I'm still writing down exactly what I did on the back of the sheet because I don't want it to come back to bite me.

This is micromanagement at it's finest.

I'm also sick, so that's annoying, too.

  • I have been up till midnight or later the past 2 nights painting. That is *really* late for me and I'm exhausted. I'm so tired of painting and I want my house back. "Normal" household stuff (laundry, dishes, etc) is not getting done and things are piling up everywhere which is driving me insane. We also have boxes and boxes of stuff packed up to give away which will be *awesome* once we give it away, but right now it's piled up in the kitchen taking up space.

I also need to do some girly stuff like dye my hair, do my nails, etc so I don't feel like such a hag, but there.is.no.time.

  • I have no idea where anything is in my house and it's starting to bug me! We have the final walk through in our rental and I hope it goes well. We have cleaned for the past few nights.  I'm hoping to finally start unpacking boxes the next few days and this weekend!

  • We're getting photos taken for Christmas cards next weekend and I was all gung ho to go to my exercise class everyday until then to be in the best possible shape I could be in. Then last night our exercise center sends out an email that they have to be closed for five whole days next week to soundproof the building b/c of the stupid neighbors complaining. Now I'll have to work out on my own which I know I'll slack on. Plus Gracie usually barks at me when I do exercise tapes at home and she jumps on the treadmill with me.

I'm also really sick of seeing roadkill on our road. In just a few days there have been 2 dead deer and a dead raccoon. These are the sweet little animals we watch from our windows everyday. The speed limit is 35 and if you are actually obeying it and paying attention, there is no way you cannot stop safely for these critters. I hope the people who hit the deer at least wrecked their cars.

I'm really sad this is the last weekend of October coming up. I feel like we didn't get to fully enjoy all the fun fall activities and Halloween stuff.

  • DH is looking at jobs and if he ends up taking this one, we will not end up moving closer to my family which is what I really want. I know if they offer him a lot of money he will take it though, plus it is close and he hates his commute so much. So I am kind of hoping that it doesn't pan out.

I used to live on your road and people fly down there. I can't even begin to tell you how much I feared for my life while getting my mail some days.

Yeah, I hear you. I'm glad we are on part of it that is sidewalked though so I can walk Gracie comfortably. I wish the sidewalk extended further though so we could walk to both parks without sprinting through some parts.

Didn't your family have some land you could build on? What happened with that?

My mom is taking her sweet time getting an answer for us on if its even possible or not. Sure would be nice to know one way or the other! If it is possible then we can start talking to real estate agents and mortgage brokers etc to figure out the best way to get out of our house and make it happen. If its not possible, then at least we know and can start moving toward some other goal. We are just kind of in limbo right now.

  • It's too hot to be outside doing fire drills today.

Also, I'm sick and tired of people treating me like I know nothing. DUDE I've been here for 6 years and I know much more than you might think.

Ugh- I have been seeing a TON of roadkill lately. There was cat on General's highway earlier this week. I am just glad my kids can't see it. There was a deer on Hilltop like in Eastport last week. What's Up Annapolis w/ running over animals??

In my area, deer get hit all the time. Especially in the Fall when there are zillions of them out. But I've seen them hit on highways too. It's sad - and dangerous too.

  • I know it's not Wednesday anymore but I came up with another one:

My Mom is already bugging me about Thanksgiving. Our family is really small and my mom and aunt have agreed that they are not making a turkey for 4 people. I do not eat turkey, therefore I refuse to cook it.  They got my PITA grandma to agree that we should go to a restaurant but now there is the problem of finding a restaurant my grandma will go to. My mom was crazily thinking that some of gma's usual places would be open that day but of course they're not. I've looked up some decent options that are open that day and sent them to mom but I'm sure they'll get struck down b/c of gma. I have a feeling we'll end up getting crappy Boston Market take out or something. I hate Thanksgiving. I wish we could just go away.

  • Tired of looking for non-skinny jeans. Everything in the stores is "skinny" or "pencil" cut.  It's really hard to find bootcut jeans!
  • Not sure how much of a background most people know but my Grammi is crazy. As in bi-polar, schizophrenic (sp?) cray-cray. So anyway it got to the point a few years ago that I would see her calling my cell phone and not answer because I knew it was either going to be a conversation saying "I hope you don't have kids. Just enjoy your husband because this world is crazy and blah blah blah." Or it could be a "Hey I need you to go to the grocery store and get XYZ for me. Like now. I am sure work will let you leave. Or you can do it on your lunch break. And do you have any money I can borrow until I can get someone to take me to the credit union?"

SO anyway my cell phone starts ringing yesterday and it is my aunt's home phone (Grammi lives there with her now). Stupidly I answer it. Grammi says "Honey how are you? How is [DD]? She's getting big I bet? I need you to bring her by today so that I can see before I lose my sight completely." (Dr says she has the onset of glaucoma, normal for her age, 73) So I tell her that I have errands, DD is napping and I am taking pictures for a friend later. How about Saturday? We agree and I hang up.

A few hours later I get another call from the same number, I let it go to voicemail. Then I listen to it: "I am not sure I'll be up to it. I am tired. I haven't slept in years. I just don't have anything to live for. Don't come up Saturday. I won't be up to it. Enjoy your daughter. Have a nice life."

WTF? It's a wonder I turned out half normal, though that's still up in the air some days!

I don't know if you're set on going to a restaurant or not, but my family is also really small and there have been a few years when it was only 4-5 of us for Thanksgiving. My mom made a turkey breast rather than a whole turkey. Much more practical for a small group if you still want to make the dinner at home!

Hugs dear!  Just remember that  her disease is contributing to what's coming out of her mouth and if she was with it, she wouldn't be saying these things.  I know you know this.  But sometimes it helps to hear it too!  :)
