Anyone work for the State of NH?
I'm considering a position there and was wondering if anyone can tell me about the work environment, health insurance, flexibility, etc? I've heard so many different things over the years about state jobs, some good, some bad, so i'm hoping to get some opinions from actual employees. I would really appreciate any help you can give! Thanks.
Re: Anyone work for the State of NH?
I didn't work for the state, but I did work for the state of MA for 6 years and the city of Nashua for a year and a half - I really enjoyed my benefits and my immediate coworkers at my job in MA...but hated hated hated that the majority of people were so damn lazy that I worked with (and the commute)..most of them were "lifers' because of the stability of the job and the fact that basically there was no way they could get fired from the job because of unions....same for the city of Nashua....although that job I pretty much hated all the way around, mainly because of the people that had been there forever...
At any rate, I think the stability, benefits and health insurance are the best things about working for any form of government (state or city) - I think some people love government jobs and others do not.
I work for the state, and I think that things like work environment and flexibility vary WIDELY from one division/department/position to the next. NH doesn't have the best pay, especially compared to jobs in many other states. But, the benefits are very good.
What position are you considering, if you don't mind sharing?
