Asking for recommendation letter... to principal
Hey everyone! Just background info. I graduated college in 2010 with a double major in education. I have been a sub ever since applying to 100's of school districts for the past almost 2 years. I am currently doing a long term sub position for the teacher I student taught with at the school I student taught at! I love it there. I would be so happy if I got my first teaching job there however, I just have to get to the interview! It seems that school districts is a lot about who you know... etc... (even though I 'know' a lot of people). I am curious as to how I should go about asking the principal or vice principal (or even both) for a letter of recommendation. Like I said, I have been around for a while in this building and I think I have shown them how great of a teacher I can be... It is just asking is what I am having a hard time with... Any suggestions???
Re: Asking for recommendation letter... to principal
Since you are in a sub position and it's a long-term one, I would say you are in a natural position to ask for a recommendation.
I would definitely frame it in the way that since this principal has had the unique opportunity to see you in action for a longer period of time than other principals you have subbed under, you would love to have them recommend you. If you're connected on LinkedIn, that could also be a good place to make the request.
