Frankenstorm - Any Updates?

Hi All,

Break from politics here. Do any of you have updates in your area on this storm?

Worried about our East Coast big time. Just read that a huge storm surge is washing over lower parts of Manhattan and that the financial markets could be affected due to power outages there. Ugh.

My BFF is in Richmond, VA...how are things in VA? I haven't talked with her today.

Re: Frankenstorm - Any Updates?

  • My in-laws are in the Hampton Roads area and seem to be doing fine. Just talked (well, texted) SIL and she said there is some flooding but the weather has calmed down at least for the moment, and winds haven't been strong enough (she doesn't think) to do much damage to power lines.

I'm more worried for the DC & north regions- from what I understand, that's the area that's going to be smacked if this cold front comes through and stalls the hurricane system. DH and I both have family in DC, Baltimore, eastern PA, and friends up in Jersey, so I'm trying to keep up on how things are looking. Tongue Tied

My friend in Jersey made it sound like the state has pretty much shut down in preparation for getting hit tonight. And yeah, weren't they going to completely shut down the stock exchange?

Thanks for the news. I was looking at the weather maps and it looks like this storm is indeed swinging up beyond where my friend is in RIC, which is so good. But I am feeling so worried for all the people in the other cities.

  • The storm moved a little overnight and DC metro will take a punch. The high winds just started and will continue for 24 hours. We expect 8 inches of rain as well.

We are basically just waiting for the inevitable damage. Sigh.

I live between a fire station and the hospital. I've heard sirens all morning.

This always makes me pause. It's very rare that the Tomb goes unguarded, even in this weather.
