New week and soon a new month. October just few by for me.
Big "Frankenstorm" out East. I spoke to my "NJ Mom" and they are holding the fort down in south Jersey. She works in Philly but they closed the office for the next 2 days until everything blows over.
Anyone got something to chime in with. I'm listening, watching, hoping.
Re: Oct. 29 Weekly Randoms
It's wet and windy out there today. Made a quick run up to Meijer to pick up a few items to take to the office and I didn't think it was that bad....for us.
My "NJ Parents" came through with no problems.
I briefly switched roles at work to help out with the holiday ad crunch and I'm so very thankful to have moved back to my old role today. It's much less tedious and repetitive.

I keep watching and reading the news about the aftermath. It sounds like a horrible mess out there. Keep us posted if your sent or not.
I stopped in to Target this AM just to see how low the candy was marked down. (30% not worth it for me yet) and discovered that Panera Bread was now selling dressing and dips. When did this happen?
Yesterday I went from on call to standby to on hold all within a 4 or 5 hours. It was nerve wracking & exhausting. I barely slept because adrenaline was still pumping. I was called to action (the standby part) not thirty minutes after our supervisor said he thought it would be a week before any of us were sent. So that was crazy enough. Then the health officer for the Red Cross said that things were really bad & they didn't even have power in the shelters for cooking, so she was too concerned about how I could get safe (gluten free) food to eat. She said they'll still need me, but she isn't comfortable sending me until they have the rest of the food operation going. Apparently they're working with chefs in the area to create food-allergy menus for both victims & staff who need such things. It makes me feel crappy to not go help because I have a food issue, when the people there are in such bad conditions. In our training they liken it to putting your air mask on your self before aiding others around you if a plane loses cabin pressure. I get that logically, but I still feel like I "copped out" for not being able to tough it out when others have it so much worse than me.
Sorry for rambling, I'm still feeling really mixed up about the whole thing! The Red Cross lady said it is very much like Katrina in terms of the shelters and conditions, which was a bit of a shock to hear. Even with all the news coverage, I'm not sure we're getting a real picture of just how bad it is.
