Chester County Caterer?

Has anyone used any catering places in the downingtown/exton/west chester area?  We have DD's first bday party coming up and before I decide to be crazy and make all the food myself, I would love to get some prices from some local places.

Any recommendations?

Re: Chester County Caterer?

  • Wegmans has an awesome catering dept. I've used them... Salad are wonderful, dips, crab legs & lobster claws. And prices are really good.

  • I have used John Serock before-very good and decent prices.

If you are looking for basic food (meatballs, ziti, hot roast beef etc....), Colonial Village is really cheap, food is decent and they deliver/set up for a nominal fee.

I was at a party that used Feeding Frenzy, and that was good too.

  • You can't go wrong with Wegman's but I recommend Montesano Brothers, great food. 2 locations, Chester Springs & I think Pottstown. Also, check out the Wooden Spoon in Phoenixville, I've eaten lunch there, food is delicious & I know they have a catering menu.

I would strongly caution you about using Wooden Spoon. Their food is amazing, but the flake-out factor has become a serious problem. Case in point: I had a friend who contacted them about catering her shower, she met with them, agreed on a date, and the WS never got back to her.  Going in to the cafe is like being on a shooting of Punk'd.

  • I've used Aquilante's for work events in that area. They are very easy to work with and can work within a variety of budgets. http://www.aquilantecatering.com/
  • Carlino's in West Chester is pretty amazing.  I use them for Christmas, and my husband's work uses them pretty often, too.

  • Thanks for all the great suggestions.  I going to look into them.  I do love wegman's and I shop there religiously, but ... for catering I feel like I can do better elsewhere.  I still need to figure out what to do food wise.  I'm doing a 1-5 open house type party, so I am trying to think of easy dishes that won't be hard to maintain over the course of the party.  Random side note, I am terrified of sterno's (which puts a kink in some plans).
  • Two that were mentioned above by other people, and I will add great things.

Aquilantes- I know Denise Aquilante, and she runs a great operation there.  Excellent food, and easy to work with.  They slipped my mind!

Carlinos- That is my husband's favorite place.  The man eats breakfast and lunch there almost everyday b/c his office is right there in WC.
