Businesses that endorse/promote candidates
Personally, I feel like if I owned a business, I would not put my personal preferance out in the open for potential clients to see.
Some businesses in my city are very vocal about who they support in the election. How does this make you feel? For instance: if you support Obama, and see a place of business covered in Romney signs and stickers, would it bother you to shop there?
Re: Businesses that endorse/promote candidates
I think you hit the nail on the head. It is stupid for a business owner to be so openly political unless they only care about serving/selling to one party.
I'm sure I will eventually forget who had what sign up (maybe), but unless I HAD to shop there, I would avoid a business with a Romney sign.
I'd prefer a business be upfront with where my money goes (ie Chickfila) as opposed to hiding where they donate profits. Then I can make an informed decision on where to give my business.
Yep.
But, I do think it's not the smartest thing in the world for businesses to be so open with their political leanings. I personally like to know for the reasons Ella said, but if I owned a business myself, I probably wouldn't be plastering Obama signs. Especially since I live in Texas. Although Austin does tend to be pretty liberal.
Agree. It doesn't matter how big or small the business is, I do prefer to know where my money's going.
For example, there is a small used car dealership a couple towns over from me. The owner is incredibly vocal with his political beliefs, and has posted messages on his sign board that are dangerously close to being threatening to a presidential candidate he does not like. I choose not to give him any business because he supports many things that I do not believe in.
