shag carpet...vacuum recs?
We have shag carpet in the house we bought this year, and I'm finding it very difficult to vacuum. It makes the wheels fall off my eureka bagless when I vacuum and the vacuum can barely pick anything up off of the carpet. Anyone have a recommendation for a good vacuum for under $300 that will work well on shag?

It depends on the length of your shag but in general, a normal vacuum with the beater bar removed is the recommendation. Avoid Dyson and Kirby (that lovely in-home sales vacuum that is super $$$ and looks like 1974).
A carpet rake may help in high traffic areas and stairs, I am pretty sure you can get one for about $15.
