Just a quick "HI"

Hey ladies,

I've been MIA from all of life lately, but I've missed you girls! How are things around here? How did all the northeasterners fare through Sandy?

I've been traveling for 4 weekends in a row and I am beat! Some of it has been fun things and some has been for conferences. I'm finishing up my PhD this year and applying for jobs is a long process. I'm so sick of it already, and I have several more months to go!

Any news flying through here? How are the babies and soon-to-be mamas?

  • Nothing new going on with me.

Finishing up your PhD is a lot of work. Congrats on almost being there!

  • Things are busy here too. I have 7 days until my thesis draft is due - I'm trying to finish up early so I don't have to worry about it while we are in FL later this month. I know what you mean about being sick of it! I am considering the when and how of me getting an EdD (if I'm smart enough for anyone to let me) since I want to eventually be a dean, but we're going to focus on our little family first. What is your PhD in?

As for the storm, we got the easy end. My parents in NJ are still without power and gas is scarce, so they can only run their generator at night long enough to keep the house warm for them and my siblings.

DD is good, just turned 1 and is running around like a maniac and talking up a storm. We started trying for another but the stress of my thesis cause us to fail repeatedly, so we are taking a break until I am done with the thesis. Hopefully I'll pass and be able to graduate in Dec.

I want to hear how everyone else is doing!

  • Hey!  So good to hear from you!  Good luck with finishing up and the job search.  I know it is not fun!  Are you hoping to come back East?

We were enduring Sandy here this week.  We finally got our power back last night.  Luckily we had a generator that we were sharing with DH's parents.  We ran it for a few hours each day to try to save our food.  I am going to go clean out the fridge in a bit.  I haven't had school all week, but it was not a productive or relaxing week, so it stinks!

Baby is doing well.  She has started to move some this week where I can feel her.  It's cute!  Although I am 22 weeks now, I am small and just starting to get a noticeable bump.  I am not complaining!  We haven't figured out names but have some contenders.  Our top choices are Anastasia, Elise, and Evelyn.  Any favorites, ladies?

My PhD will be in math. Nerdy. You should go for the EdD - being a dean sounds really amazing! I am sure that anywhere would be lucky to have you! Good luck with the thesis! You can do it :)

We are hoping to end up back in the northeast to be nearer to both families and college friends. Fingers crossed!

Mel, I love your names! You need to have 3 girls to use them all :)
